Why now
Long before a child can read a note, they are learning music — matching pitch, feeling pulse, imitating what they hear and discovering what their own voice can do.
Early childhood is when listening, language, movement and social awareness develop fastest, and music touches all of them at once. Musikgarten classes are built around that reality: nothing is rushed, nothing is drilled, and everything happens through singing, movement and play. The result is a child who is genuinely musical — and ready for formal instruction when the time comes.
Musikgarten grows musical skill, confidence, expression and early performance experience together — the same approach that runs through every Joy Music Studios program.
By stage, not by schedule
Classes are grouped by where a child is developmentally. As your little one grows, the music grows with them.
Infants
The earliest classes are shared experiences. Grown-ups bounce, rock, sing and play alongside their baby while little ones soak in pitch, pulse and the sound of a familiar voice. Family music at this age is about bonding as much as it is about music.
Walking & exploring
Toddlers learn with their whole body. Sing-with-me classes turn songs into motion — stepping, swaying, tapping, stopping — with instruments they can hold and sounds they can make themselves. Repetition is the curriculum, and it works.
Ages 3–6
As children grow, classes move toward focused musical thinking — seasonal song collections, story and imagination, group singing, patterning and the first steps toward reading and playing. This is where music-making becomes something a child can shape.

Under the surface

Together
In our youngest classes, the grown-up is part of the music. You'll sing, move and play right along with your child — and leave with songs and activities you can use at home.
As children get older, they gradually take more ownership of the class while families stay connected to what's being learned. You don't need any musical training to take part — just a willingness to sing a little off-key with someone who thinks you're wonderful.

Children who grow up singing, moving and listening arrive at their first lessons already musical.
Around age six, many Musikgarten graduates move into our Kids program for ages 6–12, where piano, singing and acting instruction builds on everything early childhood music laid down — and where performing in front of others becomes part of the journey.
